For example, I might want to learn the guitar and at the same time I also want to play the piano. It's possible to learn both at the same time and try to be good at both but if I do that, I might only become average on both of them. However, if I focused on only one instrument say, the guitar and put all my energy on practicing it... Then the chances of me being more than average on that particular instrument is higher.
In the world of professionals, specialized skills are also paid higher. This is evident in almost every field in business. Remember that learning a particular skill is a form of investment, and you must give yourself sometime to make a return on your investment. Again, be aware of your weaknesses and know what you can do to improve on them but do not focus too much of your energy on weaknesses, focus them on your strengths.

Though it is important to always improve our skills, desire to learn something new, we shouldn't forsake the things that we currently have. It is also true that we need to accept our weaknesses so we could turn them into strength.
Hi Jonha and welcome to Every Peso Counts! Yes, being in the field of technology I am always required to learn new things. But that doesn't mean that I should take for granted the things I am currently good at. If I continue to learn new things and forget to sharpen my skill on what I'm best at, I might eventually become an "average" on that.
