Mother Said, Every Peso Counts

I guess a lot of people are searching for Mother's day gifts, mother's day cards and mother s day quotes right now...

For most people, a mother is someone who would prepare a meal for them when they were young, take them to school, wash and iron their clothes. I had a different image of a mother...

To me, a mother was someone who would sacrifice her time away from  her kids in order to give them a bright future. A mother who first taught me how and why I should properly shut down a computer, thus I became an IT Professional. A mother who taught me to be kind to the poor and beggars and taught me to treat them well.

A mother who told me that math is a skill that can be learned, I guess is to tell me that "I can do anything". A mother who taught me what makes a long lasting relationship, which I guess what keeps me from loving my wife and being a good father... A mother who strive so hard so she could invest on a house and lot so that her children could live in freedom, comfort and privacy of their own home... A mother who always told me that education is the only thing she and my father could leave us and something that no one could ever take away from us. And lastly... The inspiration for the name of this blog... A mother who taught me that Every Peso Counts.

As  I grow older, a lot of differences in belief and opinion between us have also grown... But the very basic lessons still remain, and still what makes the person in me... The lessons that mom taught...

Mom, thank you for all the things you've done for me... You may not know how much I appreciate it, but I do from the bottom of my heart. I want you to know that I love you very much, no matter what the difference in opinion we may have. My mom... My teacher...

In this special day, I'd like to greet all the mother in the world a Happy Mother's Day. I know of the sacrifices you make for your children. Your greatness, can never be equaled.

Your mom reminds me of my mom. She has always been very prudent, being an Ilocana. She's not kuripot, she's simply very practical and well disciplined when it comes to finances.

Remember, riches grow richer with the needs of the poor so let's control ourselves before we ran out of resources because our needs are supportable but our wants are unlimited. :)

Hmmm... I'm not sure but I think my mom also has an Ilocana roots. :)
