The Value of Teamwork

What is a team and why is teamwork important? There is a popular saying that goes: "no man is an island" and this is true. In my career I have experienced working alone and working with a team. I only experienced working alone once, and it was hell. Sure, you get to do things right on your own but you end up burned out and it gets lonely overtime

We are social beings whether you accept it or not. One cannot forever deny the fact that he has to get along well with people in order to survive. When I say survive, I don't mean merely to eat, drink or breath. I'm sure you get the idea. In this article, I will attempt to give appreciation to "you" on the value of teamwork.

Why Form a Team?

Life is all about teamwork. Have you not recognized that the winning sports team is always that with a good teamwork? Even on a one on one sport like boxing, it is also comprised of a team behind it such as the boxer, the coach, the cut man, etc.

Forming a faction, your team mates will make up for your weaknesses and you will do the same for them. Each member has his own strengths and when all of these are used together as one, you form an unbeatable being. You have to be aware of each others strengths and weaknesses.A team must have a clear expectation of each other. A team should be about giving, loving and winning.


Family is a team - A family is commonly made up of a husband, a wife and sometimes a child or children. The father who works to provide, the mother to assist his husband and to take care of their children and the children to give life and happiness in the house. A family of course is not limited to this setup. As the popular kiddie show "Barney" says, a family comes in different sizes and different kinds.

Work is about teamwork - Have you not noticed that it's more fun to work when you're working with your buddies? It alleviates the pressure, and makes work fun and faster to finish. Teamwork also encourages creativity in the workplace as everyone would feel that their ideas are appreciated, each member becomes more enthusiastic and contributes more.

Business is team - It's composed of the main visionary, the investors, the employees, etc. Well, maybe it depends on what kind of business but I'm sure you can identify who you are among those people. Every successful business has a well-defined team. Work is well-delegated and people are motivated. I cannot wait for the time that I will have my own business and team to lead and work with.

Blogging is teamwork - I maintain several blogs and I can't possibly handle that by doing all things on my own. I still had to do most of the work but I look forward to expanding my team in the future. This is a blog to combat debt and poverty, a blog to become rich. What is my team made of? My team is made of me, my blogging friends and the yakezie group of personal finance bloggers and of course "you", my readers.

What makes all men equal is that one simply cannot do everything by himself. That is why we "need" other people to help us. Tap on other people's knowledge and be willing to do the same. Life is more fun if it is lived with others and not just for yourself.

Now if you think about it, what if our nation acted as one big team? The possibilities for our country prospering would then be endless.
