Will Persistence Pay Off?

One unique trait of every entrepreneur is persistence. They know where they want to go, they know what they want to do and no matter what comes their way, they're like horses with eye covers (blinders?), looking straight, persistent.

This is not to say that persistent people should not be aware of what's going on around them, ignore suggestions or selfishly do things. Remember the golden rule, "do to others what you want done unto you". So, for example you don't want to be in an MLM company but somebody wants to recruit you, lend an ear... But be a tough nut to crack.

Will persistence pay off? As sure as the sun will rise again the next day, I can surely say to you that it will. For me, persistence is tied up with the word "focus". It's our ability to focus on only one thing we want to achieve but at the same time, be able to learn a lot of things and put all our experiences into practice.

Now, here is my favorite part... Story telling!

A Story Of Persistence

Once upon a time there was a high school junior student who had access to the Internet for the first time. He explored a new world of "connectivity", and through a wonderful invention called the "IRC" or Internet Relay Chat he was able to meet a friend who taught him the do's and hows of creating a web page.

Back then, web pages were just static contents. At least, those which he was capable to do... He hungered for more knowledge to improve his craft and during his Senior high, he set in his mind that he will be an "IT Professional".

And so came the time that he graduated from Highschool. He went on the same University where he graduated and took an Information Technology course. But because his grades weren't very impressive, he was set under probation and the Dean of that College department asked if this was ok. Thinking he got nothing to lose and only something to gain, he full heartedly said "YES".

One semester after, being poor in Math (not very interested during that time) he failed one of his subjects (Trigonometry) and his dreams of becoming an IT professional was put into jeopardy. And though his technical skills were impressive, was not deemed superior among others.

And then the semester was over... He got a 5 (equals fail), and not so impressive grades. He knows what the Dean told him, if he fails...He won't be accepted anymore. There is no reason to enroll for the next semester anymore... At least, that's how most people would think.

However, in his mind was someone saying... Do not give up! You know what you're capable of! You are destined to become someone great someday and you got to be there to prove it! And so he woke up from his bed and fixed himself to go to the school.

At the computer lab, it was his turn to encode his subjects... Click, click... Hmmm... That seems to work. Otherwise, there would he been a message saying something like "You are not allowed to enroll", he said in his mind. After selecting all the subjects that he had to enroll, it was time to click on the print button (or whatever it was called).

Creeeek! Creeeek! Creeek! The sound of the printer behind him. It was his registration form! He was enrolled and could continue to purse his dream! And so he did, and some more subjects failed along the way but alas he was able to graduate as an Information Technology student!

Now, he's a five year experienced Software Programmer with a passion for writing to motivate and share his experiences with his finances. Persistence did pay off!

So long as you know "what you want to achieve in life". So long as you know you have "good goals", with "good intent". So long as you know yourself, and you're aware of the things you have and what you can do with them. Persistence will pay off!

Hi there, I agree that entrepreneurs need persistence. It's challenging to start and manage a business and without persistence. Everything can easily fall apart.
